"The closer. The acoustic jam. Probably one of my personal favorites off the EP. It was a last minute deal, written while we were recording the album. Not really intended to become a PWP song but the guys didn't mind it going on the album. So why not.

The song comes from a downtrodden perspective of a guy reflecting on his recent broken heart. Just trying to let go and not let his heart callous over. Remaining optimistic while reveling in the pain and sorrow. The line 'just like pouring the salt on these open wounds' describes the song pretty well. Enjoy being sad, it's healthier than hiding or running away from it.

It has a raw feel to it. The most stripped down any of Plane's other acoustic songs have been. It's my take on a folk song. Lots of open chords and honest lyrics belted out.

Also it isn't very slow either, which I thought was clever."

lyrics

Verse:
Who wouldn’t love her? Just falling to her feet.
Getting lost in those eyes, falling so deep.
I played with fire, while she played for keeps
With her eyes set to kill, and her sights set on me.

Verse:
She’s not worth the pain, she’s worth your time
But the mention of her name sends shivers down my spine.
She cut me to ribbons, she ripped me to shreds.
She left me to bleed out all those crimson reds.

Chorus:
This song in my heart that pulls on the strings.
Let it cut me wide open, no matter how bad it stings.
So I’ll sing these blues from the depth of my soul
I’ll sing ‘em so mellow, so sad and so slow.

Verse:
I knew she’d be the one to tear me apart.
As she sharpened her claws and aimed straight for my heart.
It may bring me to tears but I’ll hum this bitter tune.
Just like pouring the salt on these open wounds.

Slow, so sad and slow.
